- How are accounts protected?
- optionsXpress Canada is a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF), which protects cash and securities held for a customer (as Defined) up to $1,000,000 (Canadian Dollars). Cash (free credit balance) is protected by CIPF only when held in an account for the purpose of investing or reinvesting in securities.

- A clearing agent is a separate financial company which administers certain back office functions on its behalf, including the preparation and handling of account statements, maintenance of and compliance with various books and records requirements, the disbursement of account funds and our custodian of customer assets.
